Transplant Swimming Club UK is a Masters swimming club dedicated to giving transplant recipients the opportunity to compete, represent the transplant community, and promote the life-saving importance of organ donation. Unlike traditional clubs, Transplant Swimming Club operates as a competition-focused “paper club”, meaning we do not run regular training sessions. Instead, we provide a competitive pathway for swimmers across England who train independently or with their local clubs but wish to race under a shared banner that celebrates recovery, resilience, and advocacy.
Swimming can play a powerful role in recovery and long-term health following an organ transplant. As a low-impact, full-body exercise, it helps improve cardiovascular fitness, build strength, support mobility, and boost overall wellbeing. For many transplant recipients, returning to the water represents an important milestone in rebuilding fitness and confidence after transplant and enjoying an active, healthy lifestyle.
A core mission of Transplant Swimming Club UK is to raise awareness of the importance of organ donation. Every member’s participation in competition is a visible reminder of the lives transformed through transplantation. By competing at Masters events across the country, our swimmers help spark conversations, share their stories, and highlight the ongoing need for people to register as organ donors.
Members of Transplant Swimming Club UK are encouraged to train in whatever way works best for them. Many swimmers train independently at local pools, follow personal training plans, or join sessions with nearby Masters or community clubs. This approach allows athletes to develop at their own pace while remaining connected to a network of transplant swimmers who share similar experiences and goals.
By registering with Transplant Swimming Club UK, members gain the opportunity to enter local Masters competitions under the club name. This creates a visible presence for transplant athletes within the wider swimming community while giving members the chance to compete, challenge themselves, and celebrate what is possible after transplant.
Our members live throughout England, often training in different locations and with different swimming communities. A competition-only Masters club allows transplant athletes to come together under a single identity without requiring them to travel regularly for training sessions. This flexible structure means swimmers can maintain their own training routines - whether independently, with a Masters group, or within their local club - while still being part of a national transplant swimming community.
Focus on recovery, fitness and confidence-building after transplant.
Every competition and member story sparks conversations about life-saving transplants.
Members train independently or locally but unite under the club to compete together.
